Road Trip Ahead

Buon Giorno / Hola / Bonjour / Hello!

As you probably know, this blog is dedicated to my long summer break in Europe wonderland where I'm seeking answers for me, myself and carl - hence the blog namesake. At this point, I'm almost pissing in my pants about travelling solo (something which I have always wanted to do but lack the courage), so I thought why not put myself to the test and see if I'd survive to tell the tale!

Anyhow check out my tour du duty below and I welcome any tips, recommendations and advice for me. Feel free to join me halfway too! :)

Great news from Italia

Monday is typically not a highlight of the week but two emails I received from Italy brought cheers this morning. I had written to two farms on the WWOOF volunteer programme (see link in side bar) which offers free accomodation and chow for some hard work thrown in. Ideal too for those looking for a unique cultural exchange (not that sort!).

The first email was from a charming farm Casa Lanzarotti near Parma; it reads "Dear carlyn, you are most welcome on our farm... WWOOFers work in the morning and get their afternoons free." Perfect for exploring the area!

The second was from this gorgeous farm Barbialla Nuova in the heart of Tuscany (cool aesthetics - see link). Marco has emailed back "Ciao Carlyn, nice to hear from you. I'll be very happy to have you here. You would share a house with me and Lorenzo and other guys/ girls that sometimes are here but you will have your private bed room. We just have 1 bathroom in the house but we do not spend that time In the bathroom so normally everything works fine."

I'm simply ecstatic!

One thing I know for sure!

Before I can answer any of the questions, the intrepid traveller in me has decided to travel solo and light to hunt for answers about myself in Europe, my playground.

At this point, I'm not going to get all sentimental and emotional (it will come and go, manifested in my travel log in the next 3 months to come).

I just like to start off telling you one thing I know about Carl (oui, c'est moi!) that is I've just warmed up. Lets exhale now...
